Graduation Requirements/Graduation with Honors

Requirements to participate in the HHS Graduation Ceremony

Seniors at Hutchinson High School must have completed all of their graduation requirements before they are allowed to walk in the graduation ceremony.  This includes all Learning Center credits or on-line credits.

Criteria for Graduating with Honors

The following criteria will be used for recognition at the graduation ceremony.  All criteria and calculations must be completed by the end of the second trimester of the senior year.

Graduation with High Honors - Must Meet all Criteria

  1. 3.6 or higher unweighted GPA with 18 trimesters of honors classes or a 3.8 or higher unweighted GPA without 18 trimesters of honors classes.

  2. No grade lower than a C-.

Graduation with Honors - Must Meet all Criteria

  1. 3.3 or higher unweighted GPA with 16 trimesters of honors classes or a 3.6 or higher unweighted GPA without 16 trimesters of honors classes.

  2.  No grade lower than a C-.

Qualified Admissions

Only the GPA earned on the Kansas Board of Regents 14 courses will be considered for qualified admissions. Grades earned on all other courses will not be considered for Qualified Admissions, but all other courses will continue to be part of the total GPA for scholarship and class rank purposes.  Completing the Regents Curriculum is one of the three ways to be admitted to a Kansas Regents University.  The other two ways are; score a 21 cumulative on your ACT or finish in the top one-third of your graduating class.

State Scholars Competition

The State Scholars Scholarship Competition compares applicants GPA, ACT cumulative score and family financial need to determine the competition winners.  Past winners have averaged  a 3.98 g.p.a. and a 29 cum ACT score.  The State Scholar's will be recognized at the graduation ceremony and at the awards assembly.
