IB Requirements

To best prepare for the IB curriculum, students in the 9th and 10th grades should take the following courses preferably honors when available and approved:

  • 2 years of World and US history
  • 2 years of literature and English composition
  • Two years of mathematics (should
    include Algebra 2 and Statistics/
  • Two years of science (Honors
    Life, Earth, Biology)
  • Spanish 1 & 2
  • Additional USD 308 graduation
    requirements (PE, Fine Arts,
  • Electives
  • Students may elect to take IB courses without working
    toward the full diploma. Satisfactory scores will earn
    them IB certificates in the classes for which they sit
    for exams.


IB Program Requirements

11th and 12th grades
To be eligible for an IB diploma, students must complete the following:

  • Coursework in 6 areas & pass
    externally graded exams
  • Write an extended essay in one
    of the IB disciplines
  • Complete Theory of Knowledge
  • Satisfactorily complete Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) requirements

Courses: Take a course(s) you chose and sit for the exam(s)

Career-related program:  take 2 IB courses and sit for the exams

  • Take Personal and Professional Skills A & B
  • Complete the reflective project
  • Complete the language development requirements
  • Complete the service learning component
