Faris honored for character development

Faris awardFaris Elementary School has been received a statewide award for its character development program.

The USD 308 school received an award from the Kansas State Department of Education, KScharacter.org, Character.org and the Brown v. Board national historical site.

Faris was one of 35 Kansas schools and districts that implemented character education programs, focusing on students’ social and emotional learning.

Faris was awarded the Promising Practice Award for their T.E.A.M. room activities.  For more information about these activities, visit the Faris Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/fariselementaryschool/.

Recognition for these character-focused schools and districts was given May 4 at the Brown v. Board of Education National Historic site in Topeka. This recognition is through the Kansas Schools of Character Recognition Program and sponsoring organizations.
