In Hutchinson (and around the country) March is Youth Art Month. In USD 308, the district gets the celebration off to an early start with recognizing our elementary artists during the final Board of Education meeting in February.
Our elementary students will be honored during Monday’s Board meeting at 6 p.m. in the Administration Center. Students from each of the district’s elementary schools will be on hand with their teachers to show their artwork to the Board.
Elementary art teachers in USD 308 are Kylie Sampson, Dayna Ball, Meghan Dumler and Paula Vogel.
In recognition of March being Youth Art Month, elementary schools in Hutchinson are planning a variety of activities to recognize student artists. Those activities include:
Month of March: There will be a district- wide art show representing elementary art in Hutchinson Public Schools at the Administration Center. School-wide shows will also be available for viewing in the elementary schools.
March 4 through 18: Opening on March 4, all sixth graders in USD 308 are invited to show their best work of art in the district’s 17th annual virtual art gallery. The show will be available online at: http://www.usd308.com/artshow.
The public is invited to go online and vote or rate their favorite piece, using the “star” rating system on the website.
April 6 through 19: The top finalists of the sixth grade virtual art gallery will then be invited to display their art at the Hutchinson Art Center, 405 N. Washington.
April 16: There will be a reception in honor of the sixth-grade students who won the contest in the virtual art gallery. The reception will take place at the Hutchinson Art Center at 6:30 p.m. that evening.
April 30: Winners of the art contest are invited to attend a field trip to the Wichita Art Museum.
