Chances are in the fall of 2066 a student from Lincoln Elementary School will look at his class photo from 2016, and remember a hotdog.
Oct. 17, Lincoln was joined by First Presbyterian Church, Sydney’s and local salons to present the first ever “Hotdogs and Haircuts” at 3:30 p.m. at Lincoln, 315 East Bigger.
“Back in April or May I was talking with the First Presbyterian Church Missions Committee, and I mentioned how much it meant to one of our students when he was able to get a ‘store’ haircut,” said Darla Fisher, Lincoln principal. “We talked about a bunch of ideas and came up with Hotdogs and Haircuts.”
On Monday, several barbers and hairdressers will come to Lincoln to provide free haircuts for the students. Families signed up at Parent-Teacher Conferences. Individual class pictures for Lincoln followed that Wednesday.
First Presbyterian Church, meanwhile, will grill hotdogs and provide chips and drinks for the families to have dinner and get their children's haircut that afternoon.
