Salthawk Staff are crucial to the success of Hutchinson Public Schools. They are responsible for executing the district's day-to-day operations, educating our students, and providing a nurturing environment for our students. We believe our staff bring valuable assets to the District as they contribute their skills, expertise, passion, and collective effort to achieve our District Mission of educating and empowering every Salthawk for life!

It is time to make your nominations for the 2023-2024 Classified Employee of the Year and the Certified Employee of the Year!


Certified staff are teachers, social workers, special education teachers, and others.


Classified staff are nurses, secretaries, para-educators, custodians, and others. 

Please note, any certified staff member may be nominated for the Certified Employee of the Year. This award is separate from the Davis Teacher of the Year and KSDE Kansas Teacher of the Year awards. Anyone may make a nomination for either award. All nominations are due by February 23, 2024. Nominations are welcome from staff, parents, and community partners.

Thank you for your time and support of our amazing USD 308 staff. We look forward to honoring these staff members in the coming months.

Davis Foundation 2024 Teacher of the Year Nominations

Davis Foundation 2024 Teacher of the  Year Nominations are now open

We are asking USD 308 staff and families to consider nominating a teacher for the Davis Foundation Award.  The James A. and Juliet L. Davis Foundation will again grant awards this year for outstanding classroom teachers. Teachers must be currently serving in the Hutchinson Public School System to receive consideration. Administrators and other non-classroom and non-teaching personnel are not eligible to receive these awards. Past recipients of the awards are ineligible for consideration for the five succeeding school years following selection but thereafter may be nominated again. Those ineligible for consideration for nomination during the current school year by virtue of their previous selection are: 

Heather Ramos, Glinda Theus, Kendall Vogts, Judy Goetz, Brian McCandless, Randy Doerksen, Leslie Specht, Shandi Webster, Dawn Justice,  Eric Malashchuk, Kristi Link, Frank Weeks, Paige Stewart, Loretta Miller,  Rhyanna Reilly, Candace Lawrence, Carley Torres, Zach Burkhart, Tina Johnson, Daryl Koestel, Ericah Chambers, Jazzmyn Tolbert, Kerri Werth, Mary Rains, Trent Bain and Julia Johnson.

A selection committee designated by the Trustees of the Davis Foundation will review all nominations. It will submit a list of finalists to the Davis Foundation Trustees, who will interview and select the Educators of the Year thereafter. The winners will be announced at the Opening Convocation of the full USD 308 staff held in August. Each winning teacher, in addition to the recognition of his or her skill and dedication, will receive a cash award of $4000.
